ROCKINGHAM — Police have charged a man they say uploaded sexually explicit videos of a prepubescent child on social media and committed sexual acts with young teen.
One warrant alleges that 21-year-old Jaquan Tyrek Lindsey, of Rockingham, uploaded three videos to Instagram of a young girl taking her clothes off, exposing her genitals in an explicit manner, and using a sex toy.
Judging by the language in that warrant it is unclear if the same girl is depicted in all three videos. However, the warrant indicates that the girl in each video is under the age of 13.
At least one of the videos was uploaded in October of 2023.
According to a social media post Monday afternoon, the investigation began following a report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
That case was investigated by the Rockingham Police Department in cooperation with the N.C. State Bureau of Investigation.
Another warrant alleges that Lindsey engaged in sexual acts with a 13-year-old girl in September. That case was investigated by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.
Both warrants were issued on Dec. 16 and Lindsey was arrested the same day.
He was booked into the Richmond County Jail on three counts of sexual exploitation of a minor and one count each of statutory sex offense with a child 15 years old or younger and taking indecent liberties with a child.
Lindsey is being held on a $25,000 secured bond on the exploitation charges and without bond on the other charges, with court appearances scheduled for Jan. 2 and Jan. 9, respectively.
Police say the case is still under investigation and more charges may be pending.
Lindsey appears to have no prior convictions.
All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
