ROCKINGHAM — Police have charged a woman with a half-dozen felonies for allegedly stealing and using someone else’s EBT card.

According to warrants, 30-year-old Alexus Anionette Michelle Bristow, of Rockingham, stole another woman’s electronic benefits transfer card on June 2 and used it without the card owner’s knowledge or consent.

(NOTE: Jail records show her first middle name as "Antionette," however, other records show the name spelled "Anionette.")

Bristow is also accused of using the reported victim’s social security number to obtain a new EBT card.

Warrants do not specify the value of the items allegedly purchased with either card.

Arrest warrants were issued July 23, charging Bristow with six felonies: exploitation of a disabled or elderly adult; illegal possession or use of food stamps; obtaining property by false pretenses; identity theft; financial cart theft; and felony conspiracy.

The case was investigated by the Rockingham Police Department.

Bristow was arrested July 28 and booked into the Richmond County Jail on a combined $5,000 secured bond. She is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 19.

Her alleged co-conspirator had not yet been served at the time of this writing.

Records with the N.C. Department of Adult Correction show Bristow was convicted in 2018 on five counts of misdemeanor financial card fraud in Moore County.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
