ROCKINGHAM — An apparent homeless man is facing criminal charges after allegedly setting fire to a home.
Police allege that 33-year-old Marcus Jermaine Quick, whose address is listed as the streets of Rockingham, set fire to a home on Leak Street on May 30.
The damage to the home is reportedly estimated at $1,500.
Quick is also accused of breaking into the same home on June 3.
He was arrested that day and charged by the Rockingham Police Department with one felony count each of arson and breaking and entering.
Quick is being held in the Richmond County Jail on a combined $60,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in court June 12.
Court records show Quick has no other pending charges.
Records with the N.C. Department of Adult Correction show Quick was convicted of felony breaking and entering three times from 2009-2010.
Other prior convictions include:
2013 - obtaining property by false pretense; resisting a public officer
2021 - breaking and entering vehicles
2022 - felony breaking and entering; possession of a firearm by a felon; receiving or possessing a firearm
All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
