ROCKINGHAM — Police are asking for help from the public identifying two people accused of passing counterfeit cash.

The Rockingham Police Department on Monday posted a screenshot of surveillance video to its Facebook page, showing a man and woman who are reportedly under investigation.

Investigators say the two went to a Dollar General on Oct. 12 and had a child with them.

The male suspect reportedly had $110 transferred to a Chime card. The female suspect allegedly tried to put money on a Cash App card, and that’s when it was discovered that the money was fake.

According to police, the suspects left the area in a black Hyundai with South Carolina plates, heading south on U.S. 220.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact: the Rockingham Police Department through Facebook or by calling 910-895-2468; or Richmond County Crime Stoppers at 910-997-5454; or submit tips through the P3 app where they can remain anonymous.
