Rockingham Police warn of immigration scam

Posted

ROCKINGHAM — For the second time this week, the Rockingham Police Department has issued a scam alert.

According to a Facebook post, the department has received reports of callers pretending to be RPD officers and claiming to be “assisting with immigration matters.”

The RPD says that it does not contact residents regarding immigration issues.

Anyone receiving such a call is advised not to give the caller any personal information and to “hang up immediately.” They are also encouraged to report the scam attempt to the department by calling 910-997-6631.

Earlier this week, RPD warned of a jury duty scam.
