Runner-up finish for Lady Raiders at Bear Invitational

HOPE MILLS — In one final invitational ahead of this week’s conference championship meet, the Richmond Senior High School girls’ track and field team found success Saturday.

One of over 50 teams in competition at the Bear Invitational hosted by Gray’s Creek High School, the Lady Raiders placed second overall out of the qualifying teams.

The Lady Raiders secured their runner-up finish with 93.3 points, second only to the host Lady Bears (179.8 points).

It was a successful outing for senior Ka’mora Watkins, who had two of the team’s four first-place wins. She also had one second-place finish.

Below are the Lady Raiders’ top results from Saturday’s invitational:

1st Place Winners

Ka’mora Watkins, 100-meter hurdles (16.23 seconds)

The Lady Raiders will compete in the Mid-South Conference championship meet Wednesday at Pinecrest High School. Events will start at 4:30 p.m.
