ROCKINGHAM — Santa Claus made a special appearance at the Moose Lodge Friday evening, one of many in Richmond County this Christmas season.
St. Nick made a few rounds around the dance floor followed by kids before taking a seat and asking the children — and a few adults — what they wanted for Christmas.
The Christmas party also featured food and dancing — including the Limbo.
Santa has a slate of appearances slated across the county Saturday including:
He will also be at Striker’s Bowling Alley from 6-8 p.m. Dec. 15 and Godfather’s Pizza Dec. 22.
Hamlet will hold its Old Fashioned Christmas celebration downtown from 4-7 p.m. Saturday, featuring live music, hay rides and other activities.
Richmond Community Theatre is hosting a Holiday Improv Night, where participants use improvisational skills in games such as Scenes from a Hat — where they act out (often awkward) situations listed on a slip of paper drawn from a hat — and Party Quirks — where several people portray guests at a party and the host has to guess who they are.
They also get to play with props, coming up with alternative ideas for the items they’re handed.
Keeping in the Christmas traditions, Dobbins Heights will host sleigh rides from 3-5 p.m. Dec. 21.
Hamlet Depot and Museums Director Mechelle Preslar on Friday announced the top three winners from the previous evening’s Parade of Lights, which is the first time the parade has been held after sundown.
The winners, which were based on creativity, are:
“These participants did an exceptional job with our challenge ‘The Brighter The Better,’" Preslar said in an email. “We appreciate everyone's participation and all who came out to see our first night parade.”
