ROCKINGHAM —  A Scotland County man with multiple pending charges in Nash County is accused of stealing from a Richmond County retailer.

According to one warrant, 36-year-old Olayinka Olawumi Ogunsua, of Gibson, stole $254.62 in merchandise — including groceries and household chemicals — from the Rockingham Walmart on March 15.

Records show Ogunsua was also wanted on an outstanding warrant, issued nearly a year ago, after he allegedly slashed the rear driver’s-side tire of a Laurinburg woman’s vehicle in April 2025.

Ogunsua was arrested on March 15 and charged with one count of misemeanor larceny and served with the Scotland County warrant charging him with injury to personal property.

He was booked into the Richmond County Jail, where he is being held on a combined $2,000 secured bond. Ogunsua had his first appearance on March 16 and his next court dates are scheduled for April 8 in Scotland County and May 8 in Richmond County.

Online court records show Ogunsua has multiple pending charges in Nash County from 2023: six counts of attempted obtaining property by false pretenses; five counts of obtaining property by false pretenses; five counts of criminal use of a counterfeit trademark; and one count of felony conspiracy.

His next court appearance on the Nash County charges is scheduled for July 3.

Ogunsua also has pending traffic infractions in Scotland County.

The defendant appears to have no prior convictions in the state.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
