PINEHURST — For the final time as a team this season, the Richmond Senior High School girls’ golf team played competitively Monday.

Wrapping up their six-match regular season, the Lady Raiders played 18 holes at Pinehurst No. 6.

Leapfrogging back and forth all season between the No. 4 and No. 5 spots, Richmond placed fifth out of six teams on the George and Tom Fazio designed course.

The Lady Raiders posted a team score of 331 between their top three golfers — freshman Talley Webb and seniors Ella Munn and Jacey McRae.

Also competing for Richmond were senior Tess Bryant and freshman Bayden Bendell.

Scotland High School, one of a couple teams Richmond has traded places with this fall, finished just ahead of the Lady Raiders with a team score of 316.

"It always is tough to end a regular season; it seems as if we only are getting started,” head coach Keith Parsons said. “I appreciate everything each of our players did during the season, and I hope each takes something from the success she had.

"Great to see Ella, Jacey, Tess and Bayden finish strong,” he added. “All have come so far this season and during their careers."

In her last match as a freshman, Webb topped the team’s scorecard for the sixth time this fall. Battling the tough course, she shot a pair of 54s on both sides of the turn for a 108.

Munn, a four-year golfer, and McRae, who played three years for Richmond, put a bow on their respective playing careers.

On the front, Munn shot a 55 and followed with a 56 for a final round score of 111. McRae also played her best on the opening nine holes with a 54 before ending the day with a 58 on the back nine for a 112.

Bryant closed her lone season of Lady Raider golf by matching McRae’s score of 112. She shot a 57 to start and closed the final nine holes with a 55.

Also closing the scorebook on her freshman season, Bendell shot a 126. She had matching scores of 63 on the front and back half of the course.

Pinecrest High School won the match and the Sandhills Athletic Conference title with a score of 223 and 36 points.

Kate Grantham and Kaitlyn Kruczek each led the field with an even-par 72.

Second and third place went to Lee County (280) and Union Pines (289) high schools. Placing sixth behind Richmond was Southern Lee High School (351).

“Talley will go on to play in the Central Regional on Monday at Longleaf Golf & Family Club, and her teammates gave her encouragement as we left No. 6 on Monday,” Parsons closed.

Webb, who qualified for the 4A postseason by averaging a score below 50 shots per nine holes in her five best rounds, will represent Richmond for the first time since 2019.

A tee time for Webb at Longleaf Golf & Family Club has yet to be determined at the time of publication.
