HAMLET — Participants in this weekend’s Sick at the Rock rolled through the Seaboard City early Friday afternoon ahead of the action at Rockingham Dragway.
People waiting on orders from TGIFriday Food Trucks on Main could hear the roar of the engines as drivers stopped for photos at the Hamlet Depot.
The Depot was one of three checkpoints across Richmond County for the street cruise requirement. The other two locations were Los Mariachis Mexican Bar and Grill in Rockingham and the Berry Patch in Ellerbe.

Action at the track was postponed following heavy rains Thursday night and early Friday morning.
The inaugural Sick at the Rock, promoted by Sick the Magazine, is filling the hole left on the Dragway’s calendar by the cancellation of the NMRA/NMCA All-Star Nationals. Sick is hosting another event later in the year in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
Drivers confirmed for the event include Jeff Lutz of “Street Outlaws,” Mike Finnegan, Graham Hayes and Devin Vanderhoof.
Finnegan made a pass during testing on Thursday, running an 8.68 at 159 mph.
Running in conjunction with the Sick show is the first of five ProMods at the Rock events for 2025.
Qualifying is currently scheduled to start at 11 a.m. Saturday, with racing throughout the day.
The Dragway will take next weekend off while NASCAR returns next door at Rockingham Speedway with the Black’s Tire 200 Craftsman Truck Series race scheduled for April 18 and the N.C. Education Lottery 250 set for April 19. The Saturday race will be preceded by the Rockingham ARCA 150.
However, the Lindsey’s Tire Center Truck Show returns to the strip for the third year on April 26, followed by a slate of events in May.
