Statement from Richmond County Sheriff's Office on passing of Clemmons

On Aug. 5, 2021, Sheriff James Edward Clemmons Jr., passed away of natural causes at his home in Rockingham, North Carolina. James "Clem” Edward Clemmons, Jr., age 60, is the son of James Edward Clemmons Sr. and the late Beverly Clemmons. 

Sheriff Clemmons began his career at the Richmond County Sheriff's Office in 1989. While serving the sheriff's office he held several key positions to include major, before becoming the elected Sheriff in 2010. Sheriff Clemmons was a graduate of Livingstone College, Salisbury, and achieved a Bachelor of Science degree from Mount Olive University. He was a member and Trustee of Grace Temple Fellowship Church, Wallace, South Carolina. The passing of Sheriff Clemmons will be felt by many throughout Richmond County and the State of North Carolina. “Sheriff Clemmons touched the lives of many people.
