ROCKINGHAM — Preparation for the not-too-distant fall season will begin next week for the Richmond Senior High School volleyball program.

Announced by head coach Ashleigh Larsen, summer workouts are slated to begin for interested players June 9.

Larsen, who is beginning her ninth season as head coach, has a busy summer slate planned for high schoolers and middle schoolers, as well as area youth with the program’s annual summer camp.

Spanning much of the months of June and July, the workouts are for any interested rising freshmen through rising senior players. Most of the daily sessions will be held from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. in Richmond’s gym.

The dates for summer workouts are:

June 9

June 10-11 (10 a.m. to 11 a.m.)

June 16-18

June 23-25

July 7-9

July 14-16

July 28

All interested players must have a current or updated physical to participate. Summer workouts, though not mandatory, are strongly encouraged by Larsen.

Additionally, later this summer, the Lady Raider program will hold a two-day middle school clinic.

Set for Aug. 19 and 20, the clinic is for rising sixth to rising eighth graders. The cost is $20 per student-athlete and the sessions will run from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. both days.

Larsen said the goal is to help build skills and prepare local middle schoolers for tryouts. A registration link will be posted at a later date, she said.
