“CLASSROOM CREDITS” WITH TALLEY WEBB

When she’s not hitting shots down the fairway on the golf course, Webb is dialed into her honors classes at Richmond.

Enjoying her first full year on campus, Webb is taking two core classes and two electives this semester. Currently with three As and a B, she’s enrolled in American History Honors, Biology Honors, Weight Training Honors and Annual Production Honors.

At the start of the semester, Webb began with a 3.93 weighted grade point average, putting her in the top 100 of her graduating class. Starting next school year, she plans to take dual enrollment classes at Richmond Community College.

After high school, Webb plans to play golf at the collegiate level and pursue a career as a medical sonographer.

“ON THE COURSE” WITH TALLEY WEBB

The Richmond girls’ golf team has improved in each of its three matches this season. Webb has taken on the role as the team’s captain, something her play on the course has allowed her to do with ease.

Each of the past two Mondays, the Lady Raiders have played nine-hole matches at Anderson Creek and King’s Grant golf courses. Both matches ended in new season lows for the team, as well as Webb.

In her round at Anderson Creek, Webb posted a 52 to lead the Lady Raiders on the scorecard. That total was six shots fewer than her first outing of the season at Pinehurst No. 6.

Following that performance this week at King’s Grant, Webb took an impressive eight more shots off her total score. She finished the round with a 44 and ended the day with a birdie on the par-three No. 7, as well as pars on holes Nos. 3 and 4.

Richmond shot a 165 between its top three golfers at Kings’ Grant, tying for second place with Jack Britt High School.

The Lady Raiders play their first 18-hole match of the season Monday on their home course at Foxfire Resort. The MSC contest will begin at 2 p.m.
