PATRICK, S.C. — The Rev. Howard Junior Walters, 76, of Patrick, South Carolina, went to be with his Lord, Nov. 7, 2020 at his residence, surrounded by his family.
He was born in Hartsville, South Carolina, son of Lawson Walters and Area Barefoot Walters.
The Rev. Walters was a minister for many years, after being ordained in 1978. He was a graduate of Fruitland Bible College, pastoring local churches including Bethel Baptist, Ellerbe, when his children were younger. The family shares many found memories of growing up in Ellerbe. He was a member of Praise Temple, Hartsville, South Carolina. He left a lasting impression on many lives and will be sorely missed.
The family will be having a memorial service on Monday, Nov. 9, 2020 at Praise Temple, 817 N. Marquis Highway, Hartsville, SC 29551. Visitation will be from 2-3 p.m. and the service will begin at 3 p.m. Social distancing and masks are encouraged.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawson and Area B. Walters; his wife, Shelia Shepard Walters; and a sister, Nancy Rogers.
Survivors include his daughters, Laura Greene of Biscoe, Barbara McLeod of Candor and Amy Walters of Conway, South Carolina; sons, Kenneth Walters of Patrick, South Carolina, Joshua Walters of Chesterfield, South Carolina, Matthew Walters of Patrick, South Carolina and Shawn Washburn of Gainesville, Georgia; brother, Heyward Walters of Patrick, South Carolina; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
