ROCKINGHAM — As the spring sports season enters its final stretch, all six of Richmond Senior High School’s programs will be in action in the coming week.
Most teams will face Mid-South Conference opponents, while some non-conference games are sprinkled in the mix.
A playoff pre-regional tournament and two senior nights will also take place.
Baseball to face Overhills twice, Myers Park
The Raiders (15-4, 10-1) will play another three-game week and start with Overhills High School (5-12, 3-8 MSC) Tuesday and Friday for their penultimate MSC series of the season.
Richmond will host the Jaguars Tuesday and travel to Spring Lake Friday. Both games will start at 7 p.m.
Ending the week with their second consecutive Saturday game, the Raiders will travel to face Myers Park High School. First pitch is set for 5 p.m.
Currently, the Raiders are near the top of the MSC standings. Despite having a matching 10-1 record with Pinecrest High School, the Raiders are in second place after having lost to the Patriots earlier this season.
The Richmond JV baseball team will face Overhills Tuesday and Friday (both at 4:30 p.m.) and play at Myers Park Saturday (2 p.m.)
Softball with three-game week, senior night
Also gearing up for another three-game week, the Lady Raiders (6-10, 4-2 MSC) will play at non-conference Anson High School (4-13) Monday at 6 p.m.
That will be followed by a two-game MSC series against Overhills (9-7, 3-3 MSC) Tuesday and Friday. Richmond will host the Lady Jags Tuesday and travel Friday. Both of those games are at 6:30 p.m.
Richmond will recognize its two seniors, Kinsie Lyerly and Hayden Robinson, ahead of Tuesday’s home game.
The JV softball team, riding a 10-game winning streak, will only face Overhills this week. The JV Lady Raiders (11-1, 5-0 MSC) play at home Tuesday (4:30 p.m.) and on the road Friday (5 p.m.).
Girls’ soccer to hold senior night, play three times
Also hosting its senior night this week, the Richmond girls’ soccer team (4-9-2, 0-5-1 MSC) will do so ahead of Monday’s non-conference match with Forest Hills High School (1-11-2).
This year’s six seniors are Makayla Brown, Olivia Brown, Jentry Denson, Ella Gibson, J’Nasia Neal and Jada Scott.
The week will conclude with a pair of MSC matches Tuesday and Friday. First will be a home match Tuesday against Jack Britt High School (4-6, 2-4 MSC) and then a road match at Hoke County High School (7-5-4, 0-3-3 MSC) Friday. All three matches will start at 7 p.m.
In JV action, the JV Lady Raiders (6-4, 4-2 MSC) will play the same opponents the same days and at the same locations. Home matches will start at 5:15 p.m. and the away match is set for 5 p.m.
Boys’ tennis set for pre-regional qualifier
The Richmond boys’ tennis team (4-6, 3-5 MSC) will travel to Hickory Ridge High School Monday for a 7A pre-regional qualifying tournament.
Richmond can try to qualify for the postseason as a team, as well as have players qualify individually. Matches will start at 4 p.m.
Track and field teams, boys’ golf to compete once
Rounding out this week’s busy slate, the Richmond track and field teams, as well as the boys’ golf team, will each compete once.
Raider golfers will head to Pinehurst Resort Monday for their fifth MSC match of the season. Playing an 18-hole round, golfers will tee off at 2 p.m. Richmond is currently in second place in the conference standings.
The boys’ and girls’ track and field teams will compete at Pinecrest High School Wednesday in a three-team meet. Events will start at 4:30 p.m.
