Updates announced for boys’, girls’ basketball

Athletic director James Johnson announced an updated schedule for the basketball programs Tuesday. Both teams’ games from last Friday and Tuesday have been rescheduled for later in the season due to weather.

Up next for the Raiders and Lady Raiders will be a conference road trip to Hoke County High School this Friday. Tip-offs are slated for 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

The JV Raiders (3-8, 2-3 MSC) will host Hoke County Friday at 6 p.m. and play an away game at Cheraw High School Saturday at 11 a.m.

Richmond’s JV girls’ basketball team (9-4, 4-0 MSC) will look to stay undefeated in conference play when it hosts Hoke County Friday at 5 p.m.

Bowling teams set for conference championships

The Raiders went 4-3 during the regular season and collected 19 points in the standings. They’ll be the No. 5 seed.

Bowling at the Sandhills Bowling Center, both teams will compete in a team and an individual championship tournament.

Weather pending, the girls will compete Wednesday and the boys will bowl Thursday. Both events are scheduled for a 2 p.m. start.

Wrestling, indoor track and field prepare for postseasons

Richmond’s boys’ and girls’ wrestling and indoor track and field teams will spend the week gearing up for the postseason.

The NCHSAA 7A West wrestling regionals are slated to start next week. The Lady Raiders will begin Feb. 10 at Southwest Guilford High School and the Raiders will start Feb. 13 at A.L. Brown High School.
