ROCKINGHAM — The first full week of the new year will see a lighter schedule for Richmond Senior High School’s winter sports teams.
In the days remaining this week, only the boys’ and girls’ bowling and swimming teams, as well as the wrestling program, will be in action.
Wrestling to begin conference slate Wednesday
Following a successful team performance at the PJ Smith Memorial Invitational over the weekend, the Raider wrestling team will open Mid-South Conference action on the road Wednesday.
Richmond (10-15) will travel to Jack Britt High School. Matches will start at 5 p.m.
Bowling and swimming teams continue MSC schedules Thursday
Both the bowling and swimming teams will return to MSC play Thursday, the teams’ first competition since before winter break.
The Raider (2-0) and Lady Raider (2-0) bowling teams will face Hoke County and Scotland high schools at Laurinburg Lanes. The first match for each team will start at 4 p.m.
Richmond’s swimming teams will return to the pool for their fourth MSC meet of the season. It will be held at the Leach Aquatic Center and begin events at 6 p.m.
Basketball teams set to return next week, open MSC schedule
After staying busy by playing two holiday tournaments and another non-conference game last weekend, the Richmond boys’ and girls’ basketball programs have this week off.
The Raiders (9-4) and Lady Raiders (6-6) will begin MSC action next Tuesday and Friday. Both varsity teams will host Pine Forest High School Tuesday and travel to Jack Britt Friday.
The Lady Raiders will start at 6 p.m., followed by the Raiders at 7:30 p.m. both nights.
