ROCKINGHAM — For the first time since early August, no athletic events will be held this week for Richmond Senior High School.
With the Thanksgiving holiday break to start Wednesday for local student-athletes and Richmond’s student body, a rare week of no sporting events will allow for plenty of time for turkey and rest.
Richmond is now officially in winter sports season only, following the Raider football team’s departure from the 7A state playoffs in the third round this past Friday.
Getting the week off are the girls’ basketball and indoor track teams, the boys’ and girls’ swimming team and the wrestling team.
All of those programs, with the addition of the boys’ and girls’ bowling teams, and the boys’ basketball program, will return to action starting the week of Dec. 2.
Results from this past week’s girls’ basketball game at New Hanover High School and the swimming teams’ first meet of the season will be published early this week.
