ROCKINGHAM — A Montgomery County man released from prison less than two months ago is back in jail on an attempted murder charge.
Court records show that 24-year-old Marvin Danny Peralta, of Troy, is accused of attempting to kill Miles Wilkinson in Richmond County on March 16 — just 11 days after serving nearly five months for a post-release revocation.
The warrant was issued to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office on March 18 and was returned on April 23, records show. A copy of the returned warrant was not available online at the time of writing.
Peralta is charged with one count of attempted first-degree murder and is being held without bond in the Richmond County Jail. He is scheduled to appear in court May 7
The RCSO had not released any details at the time of writing.
Online records with the N.C. Department of Adult Correction show Peralta has the following prior convictions in Montgomery County:
2021 - two counts of larceny of a motor vehicle, three counts of breaking and entering vehicles
2024 - speeding to elude arrest, two counts of possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, possession of a firearm by a felon, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of drug paraphernalia
2025 - possession of a Schedule I controlled substance, possession of a Schedule III controlled substance, possession with intent to sell a Schedule VI controlled substance
All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
