SPRING LAKE — The Richmond Senior High School junior varsity girls’ basketball team picked up another win against a conference opponent Friday.
Improving to 3-0 this season against Mid-South Conference teams, the JV Lady Raiders earned a 59-43 road victory at Overhills High School.
Richmond trailed 13-10 after the first quarter, but pulled ahead at the break to take a 25-20 lead.
Keeping the offense uptempoed in the second half, the JV Lady Raiders led 37-26 at the end of the third before pulling away with a 22-point fourth quarter.
Three players reached double-digits in scoring — Amonie McNeil (17 points), Mary Little (15 points) and Emani Ingram (12 points).
Erin Drumwright netted nine points, Alexis Mosley had six points and Kaylee Conner scored two points.
“It was good to get another conference win,” head coach Tonia Breeden said. “The girls got off to a slow start but picked it up in the second quarter. They were all over the floor hustling and giving 100 percent.
“We still have to work on the little things like turnovers and missed layups, but overall this was another great win. We are getting a little better each game and that’s all I can ask for.”
Four players scored in the first quarter for Richmond, which was led by Ingram’s four points on a bucket and two free throws.
Little led the team with six points in the second, all coming on field goals. McNeil scored five points to bring her first-half total to seven points.
A trio of buckets from McNeil in the third added six more points to her total. Drumwright had a pair of baskets and Connor scored her lone field goal in the third stanza.
Little’s shot was dialed in during the final eight minutes, as she scored her final nine points. She had three field goals and a three-pointer.
Ingram had five points, including three made free throws. Drumwright and McNeil each added four points apiece from the field.
