UPDATE: Charlotte police cancel Amber Alert after missing girl found

CHARLOTTE — An Amber Alert has been canceled after a girl reported missing late Sunday was found.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, which issued the alert, announced around 3 p.m. on Twitter that 3-year-old Marlaya Monet Patterson had been located.

Several hours before police issued an alert for the alleged abduction by 31-year-old Corey Patterson, CMPD reported a homicide investigation after a person was found dead in the same block.

WSOC reports that a woman was found dead in the same home from where the child was taken.

Although none of the alerts identified Patterson as the girl’s father, WSOC reported the relationship.

CMPD said additional information, “as it develops,” will be released by the department’s public affairs office.
