ROCKINGHAM — It’s been a handful of days since Caleb Hood announced he was verbally committing to play football at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. But the buzz of excitement is still resonating with the junior quarterback.
Hood, Richmond Senior High School’s signal caller, became the second class of 2021 recruit to commit to Mack Brown and the Tar Heels. He made his announcement on Twitter Sunday night after spending the day on campus for an unofficial visit.
In this ROSports exclusive video interview, Hood, a three-star recruit, sits down with sports editor Kyle Pillar and tells all about his decision-making process.
He also highlights his day on campus with his mother, Meredith Hood, his sisters Cayden and Kylie Hood, younger brother and Richmond wide receiver Kellan Hood, and several other teammates.
While at UNC over the weekend, Hood and his fellow Raiders decked themselves out in Carolina blue, dressing in full uniform, complete with their matching high school number, for a photoshoot. This preceded Hood’s verbal commitment.
Errol Hood, Caleb’s dad, was a three-year starting cornerback for the Tar Heels at the turn of the millennium. Caleb Hood discusses his family’s ties with UNC and reflects on how that influenced his decision to carry on the family legacy just as the second semester of his junior year is about to get underway.
The interview also features Richmond head coach Bryan Till, who offers his thoughts on Hood’s big-time commitment.
