ROCKINGHAM — A homeless man is accused of dropping his pants and leaving excrement in front of a local nail salon.
According to an arrest warrant, 63-year-old Jimmy Dean Cox “lowered his garments and exposed his buttocks and genitalia while defecating on the sidewalk” in front of Retro Spa and Nails on July 28.
The warrant was issued Aug. 1 and Cox was arrested Aug. 2.
Cox is charged with a count of indecent exposure and is being held in the Richmond County Jail on a $10,000 secured bond. He is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 21.
Records with the N.C. Department of Adult Correction show Cox was convicted of manslaughter in 1977 at the age of 15.
Cox was convicted May 6 on two counts of second-degree trespassing, according to online court records. Three days later, he was convicted of littering 15-500 pounds and another trespassing charge was dropped.
He was also convicted on a trespassing charge in September 2024.
All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
