ROCKINGHAM — Police have filed charges in connection to the execution of a drug-related search warrant at a home near schools.

The Rockingham Police Department posted a graphic to its Facebook page on Tuesday, Sept. 1, announcing officers had seized “various types and amounts of narcotics” and multiple firearms from a home at 907 Biggs Blvd.

The graphic also reads: “More details will be released soon!” in all caps.

As of 4:30 p.m., two individuals had been booked into the Richmond County Jail on multiple charges related to the search.

Warrants allege that 22-year-old Jamerius Ja-Kwon McRae and 20-year-old Trinity Smaya Brown, both of the address, were using the two-story brick residence to keep and sell marijuana.

The address, according to the warrant, is within 1,000 feet of the former L.J. Bell Elementary and Rockingham Middle schools.

Investigators reportedly found 10.3 pounds (4,672 grams) of marijuana “in several different types of plastic bags,” as well as , digital scales, vacuum-seal bags, sandwich bags, rubber bands and cigarillos.

Police also reportedly found a “switch mechanism to make firearms fully automatic.”

A 3-year-old and 2-month old were reportedly in the home.

According to the graphic, the RPD was assisted by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, N.C. State Bureau of Investigation and N.C. Alcohol Law Enforcement.

Commenting was cut off on the post.

The search warrant was not available in online court records at the time of writing.

McRae and Brown are each charged with: trafficking in marijuana; possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver marijuana; maintaining a vehicle, dwelling or place for a controlled substance; manufacturing, selling, delivering or possessing a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school; two counts of exposing a child to a controlled substance; and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.

Police also charged McRae with possession of a weapon of mass destruction and two counts of misdemeanor child abuse.

McRae is being held in the Richmond County Jail on a combined $51,000 secured bond and Brown was given a $50,000 secured bond. They are scheduled to appear in court Sept. 9.

A release order notes that Brown has no prior criminal history and that she was “polite and cooperative.”

McRae also has no prior criminal convictions. However, records show he has a pending case from 2025 that includes two counts of carrying a concealed gun.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

NOTE: Just after this story was published, neither defendant appeared in jail records. 5:01 p.m. 9-1-26.
