ROCKINGHAM — Police have filed charges against a woman accused of stealing from a local garage.
An arrest warrant alleges that 31-year-old Sherry Lynn Knight, of the West Rockingham area, conspired with a man to break into Big Mike’s Garage, located on Mill Road, on June 3.
Knight is accused of stealing a Milwaukee impact gun, a DeWalt quarter-inch ratchet and a 3/8-inch ratchet, all valued around $2,700, according to the warrant.
(NOTE: The latter two tools are listed as “racket” in the warrant.)
The warrant was issued to the Rockingham Police Department on June 11, charging Knight with one felony count each of breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering, and conspiracy.
Knight was arrested June 17 and is being held in the Richmond County Jail on a $15,000 secured bond. She is scheduled to appear in court July 16.
At the time of writing, it did not appear that the alleged co-conspirator had been served.
Records with the N.C. Department of Adult Correction show Knight is currently serving an 18-month suspended sentence following an April 9 conviction on misdemeanor charges of fleeing to elude arrest and larceny.
Knight was also convicted in 2016 of misdemeanor larceny in Scotland County.
All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
