ROCKINGHAM — A woman has been charged in a Wednesday afternoon stabbing.
According to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a domestic disturbance on U.S. 1 around 1:40 p.m. Jan. 7.
A male victim, identified in court documents as Rodrick Isiah Leron Hammond, was reportedly stabbed with a butcher knife. According to the sheriff’s office, he was taken to a hospital and later airlifted to a trauma center.
Investigators have charged 27-year-old Zanadi Rodreak Hammond with one felony count of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. Her first court appearance was Jan. 8 and her next is scheduled for Jan. 12.
The sheriff’s office had no update on the victim’s condition as of 1:15 p.m. Jan. 8. However, a release order states he was treated and released.
The release order also states that Zanadi Hammond is not to have any contact with the victim.
The two are sibliings, according to the sheriff's office.
The defendant has no prior convictions. However, court records show she was charged in June 2025 with two counts of misdemeanor child abuse and one count of resisting a public officer. Those charges were dismissed. Records show the officer did not appear in court.
All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
