CAMERON — The Richmond Senior High School wrestling program started the new year with a tri-meet at Union Pines High School Thursday.

In their trio of matches, the Raiders collected one team win and suffered two losses.

The victory was a 35-30 decision against Overhills High School. Richmond lost to Athens Drive High School 66-18 and also fell to Piedmont High School 60-18.

Senior K’Mauri Morgan (215-pounds) went a perfect 3-0 during the event. Earning two wins apiece were freshman Dylan Nunez (120-pounds), senior Adam Estridge (150-pounds) and junior Braxton Martinez (175-pounds).

Forfeits help Raiders against Overhills

Richmond used four forfeits to earn 24 points in its victory against Overhills. Landing those wins were freshman Eric Chavis (113-pounds), Estridge (150), Martinez (175) and junior Jordan Hamilton (190-pounds).

The remaining 11 points were earned by Morgan and freshman Jake Gardner (157-pounds).

Facing Matthew Harbot, Gardner picked up six points with a pinfall victory. He held Harbot to the mat 21 seconds into the third two-minute period. Morgan racked up five points with a first-round technical fall, 19-4, over Ayden Castro.

Limited roster hurts Raiders against Athens Drive, Piedmont

Without a full lineup at Thursday’s event, Richmond had to surrender several matches due to forfeits, which helped stack the points up for Athens Drive and Piedmont.

Able to get two wins in those matches, however, were Nunez (120) and Morgan (215). The other two victories went to Estridge (150) and Martinez (175).

Against Athens Drive, Martinez collected six points with a forfeit win. Nunez secured the first of his two wins on the day with a third-round pinfall against Tyler Land.

With three seconds remaining in the first round of his match with Luke Rutheny, Morgan etched six points with a pinfall win.

All three of the Raiders’ wins in their match against Piedmont were the result of pins courtesy of Nunez, Estridge and Morgan.

Morgan rolled to a first-round pin over Dallas Tucker, while Nunez and Estridge each earned second-round pinfalls over Mason Newman and Garret Engel, respectively.

Richmond (6-8) returns to the mat Wednesday at Southern Lee High School for a tri-meet. Matches will start at 5 p.m.
