Rockingham Police officers promoted

ROCKINGHAM — Police Chief George Gillenwater recently promoted four officers from his department.

The announcement was made Thursday afternoon in a post on the Rockingham Police Department’s Facebook page.

Detective Steve Odom was promoted from lieutenant to captain and will continue his role as the lead investigator and supervisor of the Detective division, according to the post.

Another detective, Larry Tunstall, was promoted from sergeant to lieutenant. Tunstall will continue his supervisory role in the detective division.

Officer Lee Bailey, training coordinator, and evidence/property manager, was also promoted from sergeant to lieutenant.

Patrolman David Gallops was promoted to sergeant and will take on the role of supervisor for the night shift.

“Chief Gillenwater also wants to thank each of these men for their hard work, dedication and loyalty to the citizens of Rockingham,” the post reads.
