ROCKINGHAM — A late burst of offense propelled the No. 2 Raiders to their fourth straight win Monday.

Opening the Sandhills Athletic Conference tournament at home, Richmond defeated No. 7 Hoke County High School 12-2 in six innings.

The mercy-rule win started as a pitcher’s duel between Richmond’s Evan Hodges (complete game, seven strikeouts) and Hoke County’s Owen Autry (four innings, four runs).

With no-hit bids for both starters entering the fifth inning, the Raiders broke it open with four runs in the bottom half. They added their final eight runs in the bottom of the sixth.
