RSHS basketball games at Pinecrest postponed

ROCKINGHAM — Local high school basketball fans will have to wait until next week to see Richmond’s teams back on the court.

Athletic director Rob Ransom confirmed on Wednesday that the upcoming Raiders’ and Lady Raiders’ road games at Pinecrest High School had been postponed.

Originally scheduled to be played on Friday, the postponements are a result of a multi-day power outage across Moore County, which started Saturday night.

Moore County Schools hasn’t had classes all week and students’ first day back is expected to be on Friday.

Ransom said there is no definitive make-up date for either contest against Pinecrest at the time of publication.

The games against the Patriots and Lady Patriots were slated to be Richmond’s Sandhills Athletic Conference openers.

The Raiders (6-1) will look to extend their winning streak to five games when they travel to conference opponent Southern Lee High School (4-2) next Tuesday with tip-off set for 7:30 p.m.

Wrestling match at North Moore postponed

The Richmond wrestling program was scheduled to travel to North Moore High School on Friday for a non-conference match.

Head coach Andre’ Ellerbe confirmed that it, too, was postponed because of the power outage and that there was no make-up date scheduled.

The Raiders (2-4) will return to the mat and open SAC action on the road on Wednesday, Dec. 14. Richmond will battle Lee County High School and host Pinecrest.
