OBITUARY: Janet M. Collins

HAMLET — Janet M. Collins, 77, of Hamlet, passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Nov. 28, 1945, in Richmond County, daughter of the late John Lynn Maul and Alice Atwell Maul.

Janet was a retired clerk with CSX Railroad. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Hamlet. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for over 50 years. She, along with her late husband Craig, enjoyed cutting and painting wood crafts as a hobby.

Janet loved the beach, especially spending time at Windy Point over the years. She was a lady that loved her family dearly and especially her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of more than 56 years, Walker Craig Collins; parents, John and Alice Maul; sister, Alice Alexander Scholl; and great-granddaughters, Myleigh and Kyleigh Toothe.

Janet is survived by her daughters, Cara Collins Covington (Perry) of Hendersonville, and Deana Collins Carter (Bryan) of Rockingham; grandchildren, Amber Toothe (Christopher) of Fayetteville, Jarrett Carter of Rockingham, Jonathan Carter of Rockingham, and bonus granddaughter, Havanna Holfert of Laurinburg; great-granddaughters, Elizabeth and Madison Toothe; and her beloved dog, Sadie.

Visitation will be Saturday, April 29, 2023 from 10-11 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Hamlet.

The memorial service will immediately follow the visitation, beginning at 11 a.m., in the church sanctuary, with the Rev. Allison Farrah and the Rev. Mike Childers officiating.

At other times, the family will greet friends at the family home in Hamlet.
