ROCKINGHAM — Shirley Patrick Joyner, 80, of Rockingham, completed her earthly journey on Saturday, May 6, 2023.
Mrs. Joyner was born April 7, 1943 in Bennettsville, South Carolina, a daughter of the late Douglas and Martha Jane Smith Patrick.
She retired from Sara Lee/Hanes Hosiery and was a longtime member of Roberdell Methodist Church and the UMW. She enjoyed cooking, especially her famous chicken and rice, baking, and taking care of her grandchildren. She always cared for her family and those surrounding her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Mack Patrick.
Surviving are her husband of nearly 62 years, Sammy Marshall Joyner Jr.; children, Marshall G. Joyner (Tammy), Angela Joyner Jeffrey (Jed) and Cathy Joyner Lemon (Richard); grandchildren, Kylie Joyner, Hannah Henley, Isabella Lemon, Jake Jeffrey and Kaleigh Jeffrey; brother, George Patrick; sister, Linda Lee; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 11, 2023 at Roberdell Methodist Church with the Rev. Paul Haber and the Rev. Bob Carpenter officiating. Interment will follow in Eastside Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12:45–1:45 p.m. Thursday at the church.
