ROCKINGHAM — A Hamlet man is facing child exploitation charges following a joint investigation by local, state and federal law enforcement.
According to a press release from the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, investigators received a complaint from another state involving 21-year-old Dakota Shane Snow and his alleged inappropriate contact online with a minor.
The sheriff’s office, along with the N.C. State Bureau of Investigation and the FBI, began an investigation which led to warrants being filed for Snow’s arrest.
All three agencies executed a search warrant Friday at Snow’s home, according to the press release..
He was arrested and charged with five felony counts of first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.
Snow was booked into the Richmond County Jail under a $250,000 secured bond. He is scheduled to appear in court Feb. 18.
Online court records show Snow has several pending traffic violations from the N.C. State Highway Patrol.
Records with the N.C. Department of Public Safety Division of Adult Correction show Snow has no previous convictions in the state.
All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
