Hamlet traffic stop leads to arrest on South Carolina bench warrant

HAMLET — A woman was arrested over the weekend on a fugitive warrant from South Carolina.

According to the Hamlet Police Department, officers discovered during a Dec. 5 traffic stop that 25-year-old Dinesha Breanna Issac, of Cheraw, South Carolina, was wanted in the neighboring state.

South Carolina Court records show Issac was charged in Chesterfield County with furnishing or possessing contraband in county, municipal, or multijurisdictional jail or prison in 2017 and an outstanding bench warrant was filed in June of 2019.

Police say Issac also kicked an officer in the leg while being taken to the Richmond County Jail.

For that, she was charged with assault on a government official or employee, a misdemeanor.

Court records show Issac had an appearance scheduled for Wednesday.

Jail records show she is being held without bond on the fugitive extradition warrant. Her next court date is listed as Dec. 17.

Records with the N.C. Department of Public Safety Division of Adult Correction show Issac was convicted in Richmond County on a felony charge of attempting to obtain property by false pretenses in 2017.
