ROCKINGHAM — An Anson County man is sitting in the Richmond County Jail on an attempted murder charge.
According to court and police documents, 54-year-old Lloyd Anthony Borden, of Lilesville, shot 54-year-old Jesse Lee Ingram Junior multiple times with a handgun around 5:30 p.m. April 25 on Gore Drive.
According to an incident report, officers with the Rockingham Police Department seized a machete.
Borden was arrested and charged with attempted murder and is being held under a $1 million appeal bond, jail records show. He is scheduled to appear in court June 3.
Borden has several previous assault convictions in Anson County, according to records with the N.C. Department of Public Safety Division of Adult Correction.
In 1998, Borden was convicted of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.
Borden was convicted in 2003 on one misdemeanor count each of assault and attempted assault on a child.
His most recent conviction was in 2011 for assault on a female and communicating threats.
Records show Borden received probation in each case.
All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
