Richmond County investigators file more charges in sexual exploitation case

ROCKINGHAM — The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office has filed additional charges in a sexual exploitation case, including against a female defendant.

Investigators on Tuesday arrested 24-year-old Andrea Noel Verde, of Rockingham and charged her with four counts each of first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, taking indecent liberties with a minor and felony child abuse with a sexual act.

Verde is being held in the Richmond County Jail on a combined $1 million secured bond.

The sheriff’s office served 31-year-old Jason Derek Lars Sadler with warrants — charging him with four counts each of first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor and taking indecent liberties with a minor, and one count of statutory rape of a 13-year-old — while in jail.

Sadler was initially arrested on Sept. 5 following an investigation based on “cyber tips” regarding Sadler.

While serving a search warrant, investigators reportedly found more than 150 files “containing child sexual abuse materials.”

Sadler was initially scheduled to appear in court Sept. 16. His next court appearance is scheduled for Nov. 16. He is being held on a combined $1,250,000 secured bond.

Verde is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 28. Online court records show she also has several pending traffic citations.

She appears to have no prior convictions in North Carolina.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
