Hamlet police seek shooting suspect

HAMLET — Police are asking for help locating a suspect in a late-night shooting.

According to investigators with the Hamlet Police Department, officers heard shots fired in the 400 block of Spring Street around 12:20 a.m. Wednesday.

When the officers arrived on scene, they reportedly found Carlos Johnson Jr. had been shot while on the porch.

Police reportedly began rendering aid and the victim was taken to a hospital with “serious injuries.”

Investigators say a handgun was fired from the street.

The department released a photo of the suspect vehicle, believed to be a newer model orange Nissan Sentra or Altima.
