ROCKINGHAM — A woman convicted on a felony drug charge earlier this year hasn’t checked in with the probation office in more than two months.
Records with the N.C. Department of Public Safety Division of Adult Correction show 25-year-old Jada Cheyenne Rees listed as a probation absconder.
According to the local probation office, Rees hasn’t checked in since May.
Rees was given an 18-month suspended sentence April 14 following a conviction of a single count of possession with intent to sell a Schedule II controlled substance.
Rees was arrested in January of 2020 after detectives with the Rockingham Police Department and the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team served a search warrant and seized more than 60 grams of methamphetamine and a variety of prescription medications.
She was initially charged with: trafficking in methamphetamine; trafficking opium or heroin; two counts of possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver a Schedule II controlled substance (online court records show three counts); possession with intent to sell or deliver a Schedule IV controlled substance; and maintaining a vehicle, dwelling or place for a controlled substance; simple possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance; and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Online court records show Rees has pending traffic citations, including driving with a revoked license, in Montgomery County and is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 19.
