Woman charged with having meth, heroin at Richmond County Jail

ROCKINGHAM — A Hamlet woman is accused of having two highly addictive drugs at the Richmond County Jail.

According to court documents, Aleshia Michelle Baggett, of Miracle Lane, Hamlet, was in possession of an unspecified quantity of both heroin and meth at the jail on Dec. 22.

Baggett, 33, is also accused of having two crack pipes and a small plastic container with a white residue.

She was arrested without warrant and charged with: two counts of possession of a controlled substance on prison or jail premises; one count of possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver heroin; one count of possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver methamphetamine; and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Jail records show Baggett is also charged with one count each of felony and misdemeanor larceny out of Moore County; and three counts of failure to appear on a misdemeanor, two out of Scotland County, one out of Montgomery.

She is being held on a combined $31,500 secured bond.

Online court records show Baggett has the following pending charges:

  • Montgomery County – possession of heroin; possession of a Schedule II controlled substance; possession of drug paraphernalia; misdemeanor larceny; possession of stolen goods or property; and second-degree trespassing.
  • Stanly County – felony larceny; conspiracy to commit felony larceny; and aiding and abetting larceny.

Records with the N.C. Department of Public Safety Division of Adult Correction show Baggett has no prior convictions in this state.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
