Experienced nurse practitioner Joins FirstHealth Family Medicine-Rockingham

ROCKINGHAM — Family Nurse Practitioner Lauren McDonald, MSN, FNP-C, has joined FirstHealth Family Medicine-Rockingham, located at 921 Long Drive Suite 101.

FirstHealth Family Medicine–Rockingham offers primary care services to people of all ages and is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. To make an appointment, call 910-417-3850.

McDonald obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Appalachian State University and her Master of Science in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.

Prior to joining the family medicine clinic, McDonald worked at FirstHealth Interventional Pain Medicine in Rockingham.

“As a provider, primary care has always been my passion,” she said. “I love interventional pain because we typically have a positive return from many treatments we are able to offer. However, I see patients daily who need help with controlling their blood pressure or diabetes. I miss being a part of the team that improves outcomes related to these chronic comorbidities, and I want to make a positive impact in the holistic care of our patients.”

McDonald said she was fascinated with medicine at a young age and grew up watching medical shows like “Chicago Hope” and “Dr. Quinn: Medicine Woman.” She found purpose in caring for people and was inspired to pursue a career where she could “care for people as a whole.”

A resident of Moore County, McDonald moved to the area with her husband, who is originally from the area.

“The relationships I have developed here truly make Richmond feel like home. So, I hope to be in the area for years to come,” she said.

In her free time, McDonald enjoys reading, spending time with family and friends, participating in church activities and community outreach.

She has two children, Vivian and Chestley, with her husband, Joel.

“My dream is to provide thorough, compassionate care to every person,” McDonald said. “I am so excited to be serving the community in primary care.”

McDonald will begin seeing patients on Monday, Nov. 27 and joins family medicine providers Mary Catherine Moree, M.D.; Emily Phillips, PA-C; Samantha Ammons, FNP; and Jaclyn Bates, PA-C.
