Pinehurst Medical Clinic welcomes new primary care physician

PINEHURST — Pinehurst Medical Clinic welcomes Kara Coleman, DO, to its primary care department. Dr. Coleman will specialize in family medicine joining the team at PMC–North in Pinehurst alongside board-certified physicians Dr. John Jameson and Dr. Stephanie McCrery and advanced practice providers Melissa Barnett, DNP, FNP-C, Connie Hall, APRN, CNP, Jeffery Short, PA-C and Jessica Sinclair Glossip, PA-C.

Dr. Coleman received her doctorate in osteopathic medicine from A.T. Still University School of Osteopathic Medicine in Mesa, Arizona, and her bachelor of science and psychology from the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa. Additionally, Dr. Coleman completed a family medicine residency at Duke/Southern Regional AHEC program.

Passionate about relationship building, Dr. Coleman enjoys creating strong provider-patient relationships to help her patients achieve their healthcare goals with a better quality of life and long-term health outcomes. When caring for patients, she takes an evidence-based approach while considering her patient’s values in order to deliver the best possible patient care, “It is very important to me to incorporate lifestyle factors such as regular exercise, a whole-food diet, appropriate stress management, and community in the management of chronic medical conditions,” she expressed.

Dr. Coleman comes to the area as her husband is active duty in the U.S. Army at Fort Bragg. She states that she chose to join PMC’s primary care team because of its reputation for providing high-quality health care to the community and its patient-centered approach to care.

Dr. Coleman is joining PMC’s primary care department with 22 physicians and 28 advanced practice providers who are board-certified in internal or family medicine. PMC primary care providers are experts in promoting healthy living, disease prevention, health maintenance, treatment of acute and chronic illnesses and more. As part of the PMC organization, primary care providers have access to several specialty care and wellness resources to provide the best possible care to improve their patients’ overall health and well-being.

Outside of providing patient care, Dr. Coleman enjoys spending time with her husband and their young children traveling, hiking, running, and cooking.
