ROCKINGHAM — The children at Over the Rainbow Child Development Center had two special visitors Monday morning.
Santa and Mrs. Claus made their way to several classes at the daycare meeting with toddlers of varying age groups.
The classrooms were decorated for Christmas with snowmen, penguins and stockings hanging around.
While some kids shied away from St. Nick, others repeatedly went to him to get picked up and feel his beard.
The North Pole couple passed out hugs, fist bumps and cane-shaped candy containers.
Before they left, Mrs. Claus read Clement Clarke Moore’s holiday classic “Twas the Night Before Christmas” to the older children.
Owners Robert and Iris McRae opened Over the Rainbow on Biltmore Drive in 2019 as the county’s first 24-hour daycare.
