ROCKINGHAM — Fire officials are unsure of what caused a shed to go up in flames midday Tuesday.
The East Rockingham Fire Department responded to a fire of a storage building behind a home on Marigold Street just before noon, according to Chief Bill Bayless.
The dark smoke could be seen rising above the treetops from downtown Rockingham.
Crews extinguished the blaze, but Bayless said they’re not sure how it started.

He was also unsure late Tuesday if there would be any further investigation.
Last week, the department responded to the same vacant house twice because of fires.
That case is under investigation by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.
