Head-On Collision on Sandhills Road

Head on Collision on Sandhills Road

ROCKINGHAM – Wednesday morning around 9:30 a.m. emergency responders were dispatched to a two-vehicle wreck on Sandhills Road and Isom Nichols Road.

Units arriving it was found that the vehicles had collided head-on in the curve.

There was a total of three injured in the wreck (two adults and one child).

Three patients were transported to the hospital. Two were transported by ambulance and the third was air-lifted. 

A landing zone was set up in a field adjacent to Burlington Industries with the assistance of East Rockingham Fire Department where the helicopter landed.

Units responding: Cordova Fire Rescue; East Rockingham Fire Department; First Health Richmond EMS; Richmond County Sheriff’s Office; and the North Carolina Highway Patrol.

The accident was being investigated by the Highway Patrol.
