‘Missing’ Montgomery County woman turns up safe

TROY —  A woman who had been reported missing has turned up safe.

According to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, 20-year-old Sharlie Elizabeth Hough, of Candor, had heard she had been reported missing and went to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office Friday to say she wasn’t missing.

Investigators in Montgomery County said the family has been notified.

Hough was reported missing by her family about a month after she was last seen in May, according to Montgomery County Sheriff Chris Watkins.

She was originally believed to be in the Fayetteville area but investigators in Cumberland County couldn’t find her.

Investigators with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office say they were contacted to check several locations, as well.

A flyer also suggested that she may have been in the Myrtle Beach area.

Before learning that she had made contact, Watkins said there was no indication of foul play.
