ROCKINGHAM — Repairs on U.S. 74 Business near S. Long Drive should only last another week, according to the N.C. Department of Transportation.
A department spokesman told the RO Wednesday that the Richmond County maintenance office for Division 8 “discovered a weak joint connection in an existing cross line pipe that travels perpendicular” to East Broad Avenue, between Long Drive and Biltmore Drive.
He added that the area has been exposed and repairs are underway.

In order to make the repairs safely, he said, the eastbound side has been reduced to one travel lane.
The project is expected to be completed by Aug. 18.
