Prepping for the ‘Polar Express’ in Rockingham

Preparations are underway for the Polar Express in downtown Rockingham.

ROCKINGHAM — Preparations are underway for Thursday evening’s “Polar Express” event downtown.

Christmas trees are being set up, along with other holiday-themed decorations.

The event is being put on by several downtown businesses, including Hillside Florist.

Richmond County residents are encouraged to participate and wear pajamas in their decorated cars as they drive through downtown.

Participants are also encouraged to bring canned food items to be donated to a local food bank.

Families are requested to RSVP, though a reservation is not required.

The train will leave at 6 p.m.
