Richmond County Schools on 2-hour delay

HAMLET — Richmond County students will be able to sleep in a little later Thursday as school officials announce a two-hour delay.

Jasmine Hager, public information officer for Richmond County Schools, said in an email Wednesday evening that the system will be operating on a two-hour delay for students and staff due to wet roads and expected freezing overnight temperatures.

The low is forecast to drop to 30 degrees, two degrees below the freezing mark.

Hager said students should long on to their normally scheduled classes at 10 a.m.

Last week, the Richmond County Board of Education voted to return to virtual learning for this week, the final one of the semester, and through at least Jan. 29.
