HAMLET— Students in Richmond County will have another day off … just to be made up later.
Schools spokesperson Briana Goins announced that classes are canceled for Tuesday.
“Throughout the day we have continued to monitor the roads in our area and do not feel that it is safe to return tomorrow,” she said in an email.
Tuesday will be an optional workday for staff members who can make it in, she added.
The schools have been closed since Thursday, with both Richmond Senior High School and Mineral Springs Elementary School being used as shelters over the weekend to provide a safe haven for those escaping Hurricane Florence. The shelters have since closed.
Richmond Community College will also be closed Tuesday.
