Richmond County Sheriff’s Office issues Silver Alert for missing man

ROCKINGHAM — A silver alert has been issued for a Richmond County man who was last seen earlier Wednesday.

According to a press release from the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, 68-year-old Boyce Whitley Benton Jr., of Rockingham, was last seen leaving his home around 11:30 a.m. He was reportedly on his way to pick up a family member from Rockingham Urgent Care.

He was reported missing by his family, according to the sheriff’s office.

Investigators say Benton suffers from cognitive issues and may be confused.

Benton is reportedly driving a red four-door 2010 Chevrolet Silverado with “In God We Trust” on the tailgate.
